I work in finance. That’s what I say when people ask what I do for a living. “Sounds interesting,” they’d say… With about as much authenticity as an apology from Kanye West.
Little do they know, financing IS interesting. In fact, I would even call it sexy!
How is it sexy, you ask?
For starters, Econolease is far from your typical finance firm. We work primarily in foodservice, meaning we get to be involved in a lot of the trendiest projects opening up in North America. Not many people working with numbers all day can say they have clients on King and Queen Street West or are involved in kick-starting popular banquet centres.
On a daily basis, I leave work knowing that I helped someone achieve their dreams, expand a work in progress or get over a tough spot where without our help, their success would be in jeopardy.
We help fund start-up ideas, innovative projects, local corner markets and huge national chain-franchises. The list goes on and on.
While working on Econolease’s new website, we met over eight marketing companies trying to decide which one we wanted to proceed with. Our biggest turn-off was people not understanding how exciting our industry can be. How can we work with a company who says “finance is boring and we need to convey the opposite on your site.” However, we knew all along that our industry was quite the opposite of boring and we have a lot to offer the hospitality world… And we do, every single day.
We finally launched our new website, a section for videos and blogs (more coming soon!) and tons of willing customers to discuss how we helped contribute to their overall success. At last, our story is being told.
Funding innovation in our industry means transcending borders, making dreams a reality and bringing chic initiatives to life. Yeah, we crunch numbers, but we also spawn art and culture. If you ask me, there’s nothing sexier than giving life to a great idea, especially one that goes on to flourish.
